The Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Health Services, Education, Research and Resource Center provides an integrated system of quality preventive care and medical treatment just for women.
It is designed to make the highest quality medical care accessible to women in the least amount of time. The program’s skilled healthcare managers assist in scheduling tests and other services for women available at the medical center, which enables women to turn to the center as a one-stop healthcare provider.
For example, the center will help you schedule a mammogram, a bone density test, and a nutrition consultation all in the same day.
The program also hosts community programs throughout the year to keep women informed on healthcare topics of interest to them.
The center is directed by a female primary-care physician who is board-certified in Internal Medicine with a specialty in women’s health. She forms a lasting and personal partnership with our patients. She will refer you to the appropriate services offered at the medical center working in conjunction with The Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Health Services, Education, Research, and Resource Center.

The Childbirth Pavilion
The Childbirth Pavilion encompasses an entire 35,000-square-foot maternity suite, incorporating a single room concept of care. The Pavilion features 10 luxurious Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Rooms for the maximum privacy and comfort of mother and baby. The medical center also offers two specially equipped Cesarean section delivery rooms, a post-anesthesia four-bed care area, 31 postpartum beds, and 8 high-risk ante partum beds in a designated unit, as well as nurseries for well baby and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A dedicated team of board-certified physicians including obstetricians, gynecologists, anesthesiologists, perinatologists, neonatalogists, and pediatricians who are all highly trained in their medical specialties and subspecialties staffs the Childbirth Pavilion.
The Center for Bladder, Prostate, and Pelvic Floor Health
The The Center for Bladder, Prostate, and Pelvic Floor Health offers a variety of programs to diagnose the type of urinary incontinence a patient has, and the degree of severity, so the most effective treatment options can be explored. Medical problems, surgeries, and medications are discussed, and a complete obstetric and gynecological history is obtained.
The Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care
The Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care is a comprehensive breast diagnosis center dedicated to detecting breast cancer. The center offers a top-notch team of breast health specialists, who are available on site to provide diagnostic, educational, and support services. Services at the center include everything from Clinical breast examinations and Mammography, to Stereotactic-guided biopsies (Mammotome™) and minimally invasive biopsies (fine needle aspiration, core biopsy). The center also offers access to clinical trials, a high-risk program for women who are at increased risk for breast cancer, and genetic testing and counseling for breast and ovarian cancers. The Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care conducts a program for women who are at increased risk for developing breast cancer.
The Center for Allergy, Asthma, and Immune Disorders
At the Center for Allergy, Asthma, and Immune Disorders, the goal is to bring you immediate relief and to give you the tools you need to build a better quality of life. The center offers the latest scientific and technological methods to diagnose your condition. Treating your condition begins with identifying whether you have an allergy, asthma, or an immune disorder. Since some challenge testing may include risk of reaction, patients benefit by having them performed within the safeguards of a hospital.
The Osteoporosis Center
The Osteoporosis Center features a comprehensive, state-of-the-art program whose goal is to detect osteoporosis early—when it is most treatable—and to provide patients with the medical and ancillary resources they need to improve and maintain their bone health.
The Cancer Center
The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center is home to New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive cancer program. Cancer care is delivered through specialized divisions, including Gynecologic Oncology, which centralize the full range of prevention, diagnostic, treatment, and management for adults living with cancer.
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology’s team of medical, research, nursing, and supportive staff provides advanced diagnostic, treatment, research, management, and supportive services for patients with cancers of the ovaries, endometrium, cervix, vagina, and vulva. Depending on the exact type of cancer diagnosed, patients with gynecologic cancers are treated at The Cancer Center using a combination of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
Treatment advances used by the Division of Gynecologic Oncology’s physicians may include intensity modulated radiation therapy, minimally invasive surgical techniques, new chemotherapeutic regimens, and clinical trials to assess the effectiveness of new treatments and medical devices.
The Colon Cancer Prevention Center
Marjan Aleali, M.D., is the medical center’s first female colorectal surgeon on staff, and is an intregral part of the Women’s Health program. The Colon Cancer Prevention Center, a division of Hackensack University Medical Center’s comprehensive Endoscopy Services, is a state-of-the-art center dedicated to the full range of colon cancer screenings located in a safe and therapeutic environment.
A division of the medical center’s Endoscopy Services, the center uses the latest, state-of-the-art endoscopic technology and offers a comprehensive range of colon cancer screenings. These include virtual colonoscopy, a relatively new minimally invasive procedure that is offered only at a few select sites, which you may or may not be a candidate for depending on your health history.
Other screening procedures performed at The Colon Cancer Prevention Center include colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, digital rectal exam, fecal occult blood test of the stool, and X-ray studies – all located under one roof in a safe and therapeutic environment on the campus of Hackensack University Medical Center.
All of the affiliated physicians and surgeons are board-certified with extensive expertise and experience in endoscopy.
The Heart Center
Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in women over 40, especially after menopause. It is essential that cardiac care is a key component of a women’s healthcare regime. With more than 90 attending cardiologists on its medical staff, The Heart Center is one of the area’s most revered cardiac programs encompassing Noninvasive Cardiology, Pacemaker Center, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Endovascular Services, Electrophysiology Laboratory, Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation, Heart Failure Program, and Cardiovascular Clinical Research.
The Heart Center encompasses a full spectrum of cardiac care for patients of all ages. Some of the services offered include the Electron Beam Tomography (EBT™), which is part of the Preventive Cardiology Program, an essential diagnostic tool for those at risk for heart disease.
The MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults
By turning to The MOLLY Diabetes Center for Adults, you have taken an important step in gaining control of your diabetes. The center delivers comprehensive diabetes education and, if necessary, management, providing individuals of all ages with a lifetime of support.
Each member of the center’s multidisciplinary professional staff has received specialized training in diabetes management. The team is comprised of board-certified physicians, endocrinologists, clinical nurse specialists, diabetes educators, exercise physiotherapists, registered dietitians, and social workers. Utilizing state-of-the-art methods, our staff will develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs.
The Dave Winfield Nutrition Center
The Dave Winfield Nutrition Center offers patients individual nutrition assessments, as well as weight management groups. The center provides nutritional services in a comfortable environment where the whole person is taken into account. The individual nutrition consultation is a detailed exchange between you and the registered dietitian to assess your nutrition history and eating behaviors. The adult weight management group emphasizes mastering skills to lose, manage, and/or maintain weight (some physical activity involved).
