Interaction of Anticoagulation Therapy with Drugs,
Nutritional Supplements, and Herbal Preparations
Some herbs can affect the response of anticoagulation therapy by increasing or reducing your Prothrombin Time/International Normalized Ratio (PT/INR), the measurement that reflects the amount of time it takes for your blood to clot.. This following list of herbal supplements/medicines should not be considered all inclusive because there are few well-controlled studies that evaluate the potential interactions between anticoagulation drugs and herbal products. Caution should be taken when considering if you should take a herbal product, and you are urged to discuss it with us beforehand.
If you have questions about whether an herbal supplement will interact
with your anticoagulation therapy, call us at 201-996-2086.
