Magnet Nurses

No matter what type of surgical procedure you will be undergoing, you will be cared for by some of the nation's best nurses. Hackensack University Medical Center’s nurses have been awarded the prestigious Magnet Nursing Award by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for a record nine consecutive years. The medical center was the second hospital in the nation to have achieved this award, in 1995, and has since been redesignated for two consecutive four-year terms. In 2003, the medical center was again redesignated and today continues its pursuit of excellence every day.

Magnet Award recognition has been directly attributed to the following positive practices: high patient satisfaction ratings; an excellent registered nurse-to-patient ratio; a decrease in hospital-acquired infections, falls, injuries, medical errors, and related complications; and a very low nurse turnover rate.

The medical center's Magnet nurses work in all areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including assisting with procedures, monitoring patients, providing pre- and post-surgical care, and readying patients for their discharge from the medical center.
