Pastoral Care Week in October

The Pastoral Care Department celebrated “Pastoral Care Week” with the national theme, “Valuing Life’s Passages.”

Some programs included:

• “Brain Injury Trauma and Pastoral Care – From Crisis to Community. As part of Pastoral Care Week, the medical center invited clergy of all faiths and their pastoral associates, youth ministers, and directors of religious education to a special presentation on traumatic brain injury.

• A Retreat: Valuing Life’s Passages. This seminar for volunteers was directed by Sister Lucinda Boders, a Franciscan Sister who is a cancer survivor. Sister Lucinda addressed the topic of “Valuing Life’s Passages,” as a pastoral caregiver and a patient.

• Throughout Pastoral Care Week, an information table was set up outside the medical center’s Second Street Café.

Pastoral Care Endowment Fund Reception

A reception celebrating Hackensack University Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Endowment Fund and honoring Ruth Kennedy, director of the Pastoral Care Department, was held in the Hackensack University Medical Plaza’s Palm Court, 20 Prospect Avenue, Hackensack.




Daily and Weekly Services

The Pastoral Care Department of Hackensack University Medical Center (Third Floor, Link Building) provides a regular daily Mass in its Chapel, as well as a weekly Presbyterian service, Methodist service, nondenominational service, and Sabbath service.

On Saturday and Sunday, a Catholic Mass is offered in the Hekemian Conference Center.

Saturday: 4 p.m. in Hekemian Conference Center
Sunday: Noon in Hekemian Conference Center

On Sundays, a Presbyterian Service is also broadcast at 10 a.m. on channel 69.


Monday to Friday: Noon Mass in the Chapel

Tuesday: 9 a.m. Methodist Service in the Chapel

Thursday: 9 a.m. Nondenominational Service in the Chapel

Friday: 5 p.m. Sabbath Service (On channel 69 only.)

All services in the Chapel are televised on channel 69 for viewing inside the medical center.

In addition, the Chapel is open daily and offers a space for silent reflection, respite, and prayer for patients, medical center staff, and visitors.
