A public hearing on Hackensack University Medical Center?s application to reopen the former Pascack Valley Hospital will be held on Monday, June 8 at Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School, 701 Ridgewood Road, Washington Township.

The meeting will be conducted by members of the State Health Planning Board, which will make a recommendation to the state health commissioner about whether to approve the proposal.

The public may comment on the proposal from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Their remarks are limited to three minutes each. Written comments may also be submitted, and must be received in Trenton by June 15.

The board will review the application ?at an upcoming scheduled meeting,? said Marilyn Riley, a health department spokeswoman. Currently, its summer meetings are scheduled for July 9 and Aug. 6.

The health commissioner has 120 days to make a decision after she has received the board?s recommendation.

The proposal calls for a 128-bed, full-service community hospital, operated by Legacy Hospital Partners, Inc., in conjunction with Hackensack.

The address for submission of written comments is: New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Office of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Market and Warren Streets, P.O. Box 360, Trenton 08625-0360.

Copies of the application may be viewed at the Johnson Public Library in Hackensack, the Westwood Public Library, the State Library in Trenton, and at the state Health Department.
