Kourosh Asgarian, D.O.
Kourosh Asgarian, D.O., is an assistant attending physician in the Department of Surgery. In 1989, he received his bachelor of arts degree in biological sciences from Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
Four years later, he received his doctor of osteopathy degree from New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) in Old Westbury, N.Y., where he ranked in the top one percent of his class.
Dr. Asgarian completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He also completed clerkships in cardiothoracic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Cornell Medical Center.
He continued his training in cardiothoracic surgery with a fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, N.Y.
Dr. Asgarian has extensive experience in many areas of cardiothoracic surgery, including minimally invasive thoracoscopic and laparoscopic esophageal and pulmonary surgery, minimally invasive open heart, off-pump and beating heart surgery, mitral and aortic valvular repair and replacement, robotic heart and lung surgery, and arrythmia surgery.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, NYCOM Alumni Association, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
