The field of radiation therapy is undergoing a revolution in new treatment methods and applications. Professionals engaged in the practice of radiation therapy are invited to learn about the latest advances in their specialty at The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center’s Second Annual Radiation Therapy Symposium. The program will be held Saturday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the medical center’s David Joseph Jurist Research Center for Tomorrows Children.
The day will start with registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. and continue with the following featured topics and speakers:
- “Image-Guided Radiotherapy”: Daniel Brancato, A.S., R.T. (T), chief therapist, The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J.
- “Advances in the Treatment of Oral Mucositis and Xerostomia”: Loren Godfrey, M.D., director of brachytherapy at The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center
- “Proton Therapy”: Sammy Adams, Varian Medical Systems
- “Head and Neck Patient Positioning and Immobilization Techniques for Radiation Therapy”: Bill Barnat, A.A., CIVCO Medical Solutions
- “Adaptive Prostate Radiotherapy Principles and Practice”: George Beninati, B.S., R.T.T., C.M.D, senior dosimetrist, The Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center
Lunch will be served, and the day will end with a question-and-networking period. This symposium has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists for 5.0 category ‘A’ continuing education credits.
